The Program Architecture: Five Integrated Phases to Work-Ready Status

Our curriculum is structured as a sequential, immersive journey that fuses technical manufacturing skills with Japanese language acquisition. Each phase builds upon the last, ensuring that skill and language develop together, exactly as they are used in the workplace.

Phase 1 - Foundations of the Japanese Manufacturing Floor

Before candidates touch a machine, they must understand the environment they will enter. This phase establishes the cultural and operational DNA of a Japanese factory. Trainees learn the principles of 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain), the discipline of Kaizen (continuous improvement), and the mindset of zero-defect quality control.  Crucially, they absorb these concepts bilingually, learning both the Japanese terms and the behaviors they command. The foundation also covers Japan’s industrial safety regulations, personal protective equipment standards, and the daily rhythm of the chorei (morning assembly), where work instructions, safety messages, and team huddles take place entirely in Japanese. Training focuses on accuracy, consistency, and efficiency, reflecting Japan’s manufacturing philosophy.


Phase 2 - Core Technical Skills and Standard Operating Procedures

This phase moves candidates into hands-on technical training aligned with Japanese manufacturing practices. Modules are tailored to key manufacturing fields such as machining, welding, assembly, and inspection and cover:

  • Reading and interpreting Japanese technical drawings, symbols, and tolerance notations.

  • Operating and performing daily maintenance checks on industry-standard machinery, using Japanese manuals and checklists.

  • Executing tasks according to written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in Japanese, developing the discipline of following exact sequences without deviation.

  • Precision measurement using calipers, micrometers, and gauges, with all measurements, units, and recording protocols conducted in Japanese.

Technical instructors with Japanese factory floor experience ensure that every task is performed to the tempo, accuracy, and safety level expected in a Japanese production line.


Phase 3 - Japanese Language as a Precision Tool

Language training is not a separate subject; it is the operating system of every technical action. In Phase 3, we deliver our specialized Japanese for Manufacturing curriculum, targeting JLPT N4 proficiency and the language demands of the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) Manufacturing examination. Candidates learn to:

  • Read and comprehend work orders, production sheets, shift logs, and safety warnings written in industry-specific kanji, katakana, and abbreviations.

  • Report machine abnormalities, quality issues, and production counts using the Hō-Ren-Sō (Report-Contact-Consult) framework: the backbone of Japanese workplace communication.

  • Engage in team briefings, ask clarifying questions, and acknowledge instructions with correct honorific and hierarchical language.

  • Complete incident reports, quality defect forms, and daily production records in clear, accurate written Japanese.

Role-play scenarios recreate high-pressure, real-world moments: a sudden line stop, a quality deviation, a visiting supervisor’s audit. Language is practiced until it becomes as reflexive as the technical task itself.


Phase 4 - Certification Alignment and Quality Assurance

This phase focuses the candidate’s capabilities squarely on the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) Examination for the Manufacturing Sector. Training is mapped to both the written and practical exam components. Candidates sit mock examinations, refine their technical Japanese test-taking skills, and demonstrate practical competencies under observation. We also introduce the broader career trajectory from SSW status to the potential of Specified Skilled Worker No. 2, which opens the door to unlimited contract renewals and, eventually, permanent residency. This clarity of career pathway reinforces the long-term value of certification and promotes deep commitment to mastering the standard.


Phase 5 - Simulated Production Environment and Readiness Assessment

The final phase places candidates in a simulated Japanese production line. Here, they work in teams under a Japanese-speaking supervisor, receiving daily briefings, rotating through stations, adhering to SOPs, performing quality checks, and completing production logs, all in real time and in Japanese. Performance is assessed against the same key performance indicators a Japanese employer would use: task accuracy, safety compliance, communication clarity, and problem-reporting effectiveness. A candidate is deemed work-ready only when they can function seamlessly in this environment without language scaffolding or technical correction.
